Political Career

Nageswara Rao is an industrialist who owns Madhucon Projects. With assests of over Rs 173 crore, he is one of the richest MPs in the present Lok Sabha. Despite losing elections in 2004, he took up several welfare activities in Khammam district in a sustained manner for five years. This ensured his victory in 2009 elections where he beat high-profile Union Minister Renuka Chowdhary of Congress. Presently, Rao is leader of the Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party.

In May 2009, Nageswara Rao was elected to the Lok Sabha to represent the Khammam constituency, with a majority of 124,949 votes from Khammam constituency defeating Union Minister Renuka Chowdhary. Nageswara Rao was unanimously elected Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party leader at a meeting held in the presence of the party president N. Chandrababu Naidu in May 2009
