YS Jaganmohan Reddy is a politician from Andhra Pradesh and business man. He is son of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Late 'Sri.Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy' and Pulivendula MLA 'Smt.Y.S. Vijayamma'. He was born on December 21, 1972 at Pulivendula, Kadapa Dist, Andhra Pradesh, India. He did his early education from Pulivendula and Hyderabad Public School later obtained his degree in Business Administration. He is married 'Bharathi', this pair having two daughters. Jagan having younger sister name 'Sharmila'.
Early Life
Jagan started his political career by campaigning for Congress party in 2004 elections in Kadapa District, and in the 2009 elections he was elected as member of Parliament from Kadapa constituency as a member of the Indian National Congress. After his father death on November 29, 2010, he resigned for his MP seat and congress party and started YSR Congress Party and is actively working for peoples welfare.
YSR Congress Party
Six months after his father's death, he began an 'odarpu yatra' as promised earlier to go and meet the families of those alleged to have either committed suicide or suffered ill health on the news of his father's death. Jagan founded the new party 'YSR Congress', he as a president of YSR Congress faced by-election from the Kadapa constituency and won by the huge margin of 545,043 votes. He announced on 7 December 2010 from Pulivendula that he would be starting a new party within 45 days. In February, 2011, he took over a party which had existed on paper only since the prior July, and was officially recognized on February 16 as president of the YSR Congress Party.
Business
Jagan is heads Jagathi Publications and Indira Television and is the chief promoter of Bharathi Cements. He founded the daily Telugu language newspaper 'Sakshi' and the television channel 'Sakshi TV'.
