Daggubati Venkateswara Rao is a member of the Indian National Congress Party. He was born on December 14, 1953 at Karamchedu, Andhra Pradesh, India. He is the eldest son-in-law of Late 'N. T. Rama Rao', actor and founder of the 'Telugu Desam political party. He married politician 'Daggubati Purandeswari' on 9 May 1979. The couple have two children, 'Nivedita' and 'Hitesh chenchuram'.
Early Life
Venkateswara Rao an MBBS Doctor by profession, Daggubati Venkateswara Rao is an ardent reader of state and national politics. He penned a book recently, Oka Charitra, Konni Nijaalu’ on the August Crisis in Telugu Desam Party. He is interested in sports, social activities, book reading etc. He wrote several articles in various newspapers.
Political Career
Daggubati Venkateswara Rao served as an MLA and MP of 'Telugu Desam Party' and presently associated with the 'Congress Party'. He is MLA from Parchur Assembly Constituency of Prakasam district for four terms. His father late Daggubati Chenchu Ramaiah is also a known politician and leader in the district politics. His wife Smt. Daggubati Purandeswari is serving as central minister for Human Resource Development for the consecutive second term.
Daggubati is a Ex-Minister in the cabinets of NTR and also a Member of Parliament from Bapatla. He won the 2009 Assembly Elections from Parchur Constituency by a majority of 2776 votes. He was elected to AP State Assembly in 1984, 1985, 1989, 2004, 2009 elections and to Loksabha in 1991 and also to Rajya Sabha in 1996.
