Akkineni Nageswara Rao born 20 September 1924 at Ramapuram, Gudivada, Krishna District, Fans called as 'ANR', his parents are 'Akkineni Punnamma', 'Akkineni Venkatratnam', he born on a farmer's family, he is the youngest of the 5 brothers of his family. He is the spouse of 'Akkineni Annapurna'. ANR is father of 'Akkineni nagarjuna','Akkineni venkat' and 'Satyavati'. He is a great actor and owner of "Annapurna studio's". He had 78 years acting experiance in his life, still he is acted some guest roles in films. 'Nageswara Rao' starts acting at a very early age, he started acting in street plays at the age of nine. ANR first telugu movie is 'Dharmapatni' in 1942, in this he played the role of one of the main lead's childhood friends. He got the highest award for films in India, he received in 1996 the NTR National Award. He is also a recipient of 'Padmashri', 'Padmabhushan' and 'Padma Vibhushanawards'.and 3 'Filmfare' Best Actor Award (Telugu).

Akkineni Nageshwara rao started acting in street plays at the age of nine, in his early days as an actor, Nageswara Rao plays female roles on stage. His elder brother Rama Brahmam recognized his acting skills and encourage him. ANR's first Telugu film was Dharmapatni in 1941, wherein he played the role of one of the main lead's childhood friends. Akkineni was noticed by the popular producer-director 'Ghantasala Balaramayya garu' and debuted in Sitarama Jananam, it is his first ever Telugu feature film.

Film Career

At beginning of his career playing mythological roles such as Lord Rama, he acted in various folklore stories, his films “Balaraju” and “Keelugurram” he acted like folklore. ANR was branded as the folklore actor very soon. His turning point came form of L.V.Prasad’s , “Samsaram (1950)”, “Devadas” for ANRs acting career. The movie 'Devadas' took very popular in telugu industry and also fans. After that he acted in so many different roles. He played mythological roles like lord rama. “Keelugurram” ruled the Telugu silver screen with “Balaraju” had a totally different image with his performance in Devadas. In 'Missamma' he acted in a comedy role

ANR acted with prominent actresses of that age namely Anjali, Savitri,Jamuna,Krishnakumari, Vanisri,Sridevi and so on. He also excelled along with great stalwarts like NTR, SVR,Jaggayya, Gummadi and proved his brilliance. He acted in message oriented movies are “Sudigundalu” and “Maro Prapancham”. He recently acted in mythological epic “Sri Rama Rajyam” as 'Valmiki', he acted the movie 'Ramadasu' with his son. ANR is a spirited actor that he announced he would act with his son Nagarjuna and grandson Nagachaitanya provided he gets a good script even at this age.
