Preity Zinta is an Indian film actress. She has appeared in Hindi films and also Telugu, Bengali films. She was born on January 31, 1974 at Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India. Preity Zinta parents are Durganand Zinta and Nilprabha. She has two brothers Deepankar & Manish. Her father was an officer in the Indian Army. She earned a postgraduate degree in criminal psychology.

Acting Entry

Preity Zinta is debut in Kapur s Tara Rum Pum Pum opposite Hrithik Roshan, but the filming was cancelled(Not released). later she recommended for director Mani Ratnam Dil Se... Zinta next acted in two Telugu films, Premante Idera (1998), opposite Venkatesh. and Raja Kumarudu (1999), opposite Mahesh Babu.

Acting Career

Zinta first role in 2000 was in the drama Kya Kehna, which unexpectedly became a box-office success.Zinta earned positive reviews for her role in Farhan Akhtar s National Film Award-winning Dil Chahta Hai. For her movie Veer-Zaara, she won the Best Actress Awards. She also hosted various Award Ceremony as in the year 2006, she hosted the Cannes Film Festival Ceremony with Karan Johar.

She made a mark in Bollywood with Kundan Shah, Kya Kehna where her performance was critically acclaimed. Then she has been doing lot of films. In 2008 she was seen in Heroes with Salman Khan which was again a hit film. Preity Zinta acquired ownership rights in 2008 for the Mohali-based Twenty20 cricket team of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
