Vidya Balan is an Indian actress in Bollywood. She was born on Jan 1, 1965 at Poothamkurussy, Palakkad, Kerala. Her parents are P. R. Balan and Saraswathy Balan. Her father is the Vice-President of ETC Channel and her mom is a home-maker. She has one sister named Priya Balan.
Vidya Balan studied in St. Anthony Convent School, and thereafter in St. Xavier College from where she obtained a degree in Sociology. She learned Carnatic dance for few years in her childhood days. On 14 December 2012, Vidya married Siddharth Roy Kapur (CEO of UTV Motion Pictures) in a private ceremony in Bandra, Mumbai.

Vidya Balan firstacted in a Malyalam film Malyalam movie Chakram opposite Mohanlal, but it was not released. She appeared in three music videos for Pankaj Udhas, Euphoria, and Shubha Mudgal in supporting roles. She also acted in two TV serials Ekta Kapoor, Hum Paanch, and Ashok Pandit, Hanste Khelte. In 2003 she was play a role in a Bengali movie, Bhaalo Theko opposite Joy Sengupta.
Acting Career
Vidya Balan debut film in bollywood was with Parinita in 2006, it was directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
In 2007, she did a supporting role in Mani Ratnam Guru which did well at the box office. Vidya appeared in Ekta Kapoor production The Dirty Picture, a biopic based on the life and death of the controversial Indian actress Silk Smitha.
